This book features artist Chloe Briggs’s series of fourteen drawings, Playgrounds (2019); a Conversation between Briggs and writer Lillian Davies about the creative potential of playgrounds; an essay by Davies on the history and artistic development of playgrounds around the world; as well as a comprehensive bibliography for further reading.

Both raising children in Paris, Briggs and Davies also consider playgrounds as mothers, and recall their own memories of playgrounds they grew up with in the UK, Texas and Mexico. This publication is a proposal for how we might better live together, creatively and playfully.
