Collages: Lauren Coullard (2025)
COLLAGES is a reflection on creative production, specifically the transformative potential of interruptions, distractions and rupture. Like a game, in response to artist Lauren Coullard’s twelve figurative collages (2022—2024), writer Lillian Davies’s twelve word collages shuffle citations from her work as a writer and mother. Her Essay “Hybrid Super° Heroines” explores the history & power of the intimate medium of collage. Fragments of Coullard and Davies’s ongoing dialogue appear in “Transcribble Conversations.” A Readings Index, Collage Reference Index and a Paintings Index complete the publication.
“Feminism as a method for art historians and critics ... demands more complex modes of knowing by encouraging us to always situate ourselves in specific historical, cultural and economic contexts, and thus to generate knowledge from concrete, gendered everyday experiences.”*

Portraits: Rebecca Dolinsky (2023)
PORTRAITS sketches, in words, drawings and visual research, the project of capturing a likeness. As if to reflect artist Rebecca Dolinsky's three portraits (illustrated in dialogue with contemporary and historical references in the genre), writer Lillian Davies proposes three different forms of rendering an artist's production in words. In an Essay, an Exhibition Review, and a Conversation recorded in Dolinsky's Parisian studio, this book considers the personal resonance of an historic form.
